Operating Rental Scooters
- Driving between two lanes of vehicles, commonly called
"filtering" or "splitting lanes" is illegal in Florida.
- Generally, operating and parking on sidewalks is illegal, or frowned
upon by law enforcement officers.
- Avoid multi-lane, fast-moving traffic when practical. If necessary to use
such streets, keep to the right lane when safe to do so. Maintain
adequate speed to flow with traffic. Ride near the center of your lane, not
in the gutter.
- Never use the Interstate Highway. Rental scooters do not meet the minimum
power & speed requirements for travel on the Interstate Highway System.
- All traffic violations are the responsibility of the Lessee. If you
rent a vehicle for another person, you are responsible to pay for any
damages or fines incurred by said operator.
- If involved in any form of accident involving contact with a pedestrian or
another vehicle, the Operator must contact local police and follow their
instructions. Leaving the scene of an accident is a serious offense in Florida.
- Our scooters are guaranteed to operate as designed when we release
them to the Lessee and the Operators. If the operator experiences any
mechanical problem, or has
any kind of physical mishap in which the scooter is involved, the
operator must immediately contact Rent My Scooter LLC, and if necessary,
return the scooter for inspection by Rent
My Scooter staff. If it is unsafe to drive the scooter back, the operator
must contact Rent My Scooter to arrange for pickup.
Safety Tips While Operating a Scooter
- Fun as it is, riding any two-wheeled vehicle is hazardous. This is
particularly true for operators with limited experience. Think before you
act.
- Assume that the other guy doesn't see you, even if he looks right at you.
- Stay out of other drivers' "blind spot."
- Never operate when under the influence of any substance which could affect your
ability to operate the scooter safely.
- Always plan an "escape route."
- Know what's behind you, what's beside you, and what's in front of you.
Use your mirrors, and turn your head. Keep your eyes moving.
- Never use a telephone while operating a scooter, even with a headset. You
need to focus your full attention on your surroundings.
